While the COVID-19 pandemic has kept many of us indoors, the L.A. Choral Lab has sought to continue its mission to bring innovative, immersive choral music to the Los Angeles community by connecting listeners with the world around them through a safe, socially distanced opportunity called SOUNDWALK.

SOUNDWALK premieres new musical works--written by composers Divya Maus and Jaco Wong, and recorded and produced remotely by the singers of the L.A. Choral Lab--that evolve and adapt to the listener’s location as they move through the park. Through their own headphones connected to a smartphone app called “Echoes,” participants of all ages can enhance their exploration of Griffith Park’s Old Zoo Area and adjacent locations while enjoying the flowing melodies and harmonies of “Rain Cycle” along with the immersive, otherworldly soundscapes of “In Situ.”

Patrons may participate individually or in family groups, beginning April 11th through May 16th. Tickets are available through Eventbrite. The April 11th premiere, SOUNDWALK+, includes surprise happenings and additional interactive (and socially distant) elements.

The L.A. Choral Lab strives to push the boundaries of choral music, both by engaging and supporting living composers and by creating immersive concert experiences in unconventional locations. “We can’t wait to share SOUNDWALK with our city. It’s a musical experience that is both personal and communal, with compelling original music by local composers and songwriters. We hope that SOUNDWALK provides you with a musical sanctuary to explore and enjoy.”--Michael Alfera, Founder and Artistic Director of the L.A. Choral Lab
