Man shot dead in East L.A. alley

East Los Angeles  — Sheriff’s homicide investigators are looking into the shooting death of a man early this morning. It’s the second East L.A. homicide within the past week.

Deputies responded to the alley south of the 6100 block of Whittier Boulevard at about 12:40 a.m. after receiving a call of a gunshot victim, according to a statement released by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, described as a Latino between 25- and 30-years-old, was found by deputies suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect or vehicle description at this time, and it is unknown if the shooting is gang related,

The shooting comes on the heels of a fatal East L.A. stabbing this past weekend that happened in the 4000 block of Whittier Boulevard.
