The shooting happened at 10:21 a.m. in the 3600 block of Noakes Street, according to Officer A. Delatorre of the Los Angeles Police Department's Operations Center.
The victim, a 40 year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
No suspect description was released, Delatorre said.
Update on Monday, Nov. 2: The victim has been identified by the county coroner as a homeless man named Alfredo Campos, 44.
