El Sereno - Police today sought public help to find a hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian.

More than 3,500 LADWP customers in El Sereno, Los Feliz and Montecito Heights were without power early this evening after a fierce heat wave sent temperatures into the triple digits with no relief in sight until early next week.

El Sereno -- A fire broke out in a second-floor unit of an apartment building Tuesday evening, but 34 firefighters extinguished it in about 25 minutes without any injuries.

El Sereno -- Classes will remain primarily online during the fall term throughout the California State University system, including at Cal State L.A., Chancellor Timothy White announced Tuesday, saying predictions of possible surges in COVID-19 cases later in the year mandate steps to protect students and faculty.
