Coronavirus testing site in Boyle Heights

The Boyle Heights coronavirus testing site is located next to Mariachi Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Updated on June 22, 2020

Starting with one site near Dodger Stadium in March, the network of free coronavirus testing locations across L.A. County residents now numbers in the dozens.

Priority is given to those who are showing symptoms, the elderly and first responders.  You should first check to see if your healthcare provider is providing tests since there can be long waits at testing centers.

Who Can Get Tested

The tests at the sites being spearheaded by the L.A. County and the City of L.A. are free to L.A. County residents but keep these instructions in mind:

The drive-up and walk-up tests sites are open by appointment only. Go here to make an appointment online.

With some exceptions noted below, you need to be displaying symptoms to get tested or to receive priority same-day or next-day testing.

The tests sites within the City of Los Angeles are accepting appointments from any L.A. County resident -- with or without symptoms -- as of April 30. Sites in other part of the county have more stringent requirements.

Priority for the same or next-day testing is still given to people with symptoms, such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Testing is also prioritized for medical professionals and certain other critical front-line workers who interact with the public as part of their job duties. Frontline workers can sign up for a test here

If one or more persons in a household are experiencing symptoms, they must make a separate online appointments.

You will be issued a registration number, generated during the online application and screening, to present at the test site.

Do not eat or drink anything one hour before your testing appointment.

• Those who make appointments will stay in their cars for tests (except at walk-up locations).

• The test is a self-administered oral swab, meaning clients must swab their own mouths/throats by following the instructions provided to them on- site.

• The testing process will take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete.

•  Test results may take up to five days to get back. Positive result news will be delivered by phone. Negative result news will be delivered by email.
