EL SERENO — A female pedestrian died after she was struck by a car early this morning while she was crossing Huntington Drive, according to preliminary information provided by police.

The collision took place at about 5 am on Huntington Drive west of Eastern Avenue, said Detective Juan Campos with the LAPD Central Traffic Division. The woman, described only as a Latina, was transported in critical condition to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries, he said.

The vehicle, a four-door, dark-colored Volkswagen sedan, stopped briefly before driving off westbound in the direction of Collis Avenue, Campos said.
