Eagle Rock  —  A pair of armed suspects robbed a cell phone store late Tuesday afternoon in the latest in a string of robberies and burglaries to strike Colorado Boulevard businesses.

The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. in a strip mall in the 2900 block of Colorado Boulevard, said Lt. K. Green with LAPD’s Northeast Division.

Two men entered the cell phone store with their pistols drawn and demanded cash from the store’s employee. The suspects, two white males, got away with cash and cell phones before fleeing the property in an unknown direction, Green said.

No customers were in the store at the time of the robbery. The employee was not injured during the incident. No other details were immediately available.

Last month, burglars struck five Colorado Boulevard businesses in one night.  The strip has proven a tempting target over the years given its proximity to freeways, unprotected windows and the lack of other other security measures, says the Boulevard Sentinel.
