East Los Angeles —  One suspect was killed and two sheriff’s deputies were wounded during a deputy-involved shooting early tonight at Salazar Park, according to the L.A. Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting involving two officers and four suspects was reported at about 6:37 pm.

One suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and another was wounded. One of the four suspects remains at large, according to LASD.

The two deputies who were shot were in stable condition after being taken to a hospital.

The L.A. Times reports the shooting took place in Salazar Park after deputies responded to a report of an assault.

Update on Sept. 20:  The two deputies, described as men in their 30s, remain in serious but stable condition, reports The L.A. Times. Meanwhile, Salazar Park will remain closed until further notice, said the county parks department. Counselors will be at the park to talk to residents about the incident.
