Highland Park  —  Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Figueroa Street 7-11 early this morning.

The suspect, described only as a white man, walked into the empty store at the corner of Figueroa and Avenue 52 at about 5:15 am with a gun. He demanded that the cashier turn over his money before he fled, said Sgt. Jose Gomez.

Nobody was hurt and there were no further details immediately available.

The same store was the scene of a 2013 attempted robbery during which a clerk was killed.

Update:  7-Eleven  has provided an updated figure on the amount that was stolen that is significantly smaller than what LAPD reported on the day of the robbery. A company spokeswoman said that $370 was reported stolen, according to the chain’s asset protection department.
