Liquor store surveillance video shows a woman who investigators want to talk to about the case

East Los Angeles  — A $20,000 reward is being offered to help find out who robbed and fatally shot a 22-year-old East Los Angeles man on Nov. 7.

Rene Lupian was on his way home from work when he stopped off at a liquor store around 10:30 p.m. and shortly after was killed along the 900 block of South Concourse Avenue.

“We believe this to be a robbery that went bad,” said Homicide Bureau Captain Christopher Bergner.

Officials also released new surveillance footage showing a woman of interest who crossed paths with Lupian at a liquor store and then gets in a white compact car. Witnesses said the car later approached Lupian and a deadly altercation followed.

“It appears that Rene gave-up a backpack he was carrying but resisted giving a gold chain and cross that was given to him by his grandmother as a keepsake,” Bergner said.

Detectives released sketches of the woman and a man who was driving the car. And they are looking for details on the case. They describe the car as a white compact vehicle with distinct scuff marking on the rear drivers’ side bumper, a black passenger side mirror and black front passenger fender.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the  Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing (800) 222-8477.
