Dodger Stadium Friday night saw the longest World Series game in history before the Dodgers beat the Red Sox 3-2. Running 18 innings – at seven hours and 20 minutes – it easily outdistanced the nearest records for innings (14 innings in 1916, 2005 and 2015) and time (five hours and 41 minutes in 2005 during Game 3 between the White Sox and Astros). A former council aide has filed suit against 14th District Councilman Jose Huizar over alleged retaliation after she complained about her boss’ alleged affair with another staffer and use of employees to support his wife’s political campaign. L.A. Times
The Vons supermarket property on Sunset Boulevard and Virgil Avenue has been purchased by neighboring Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. And while it will continue as a supermarket for now, CHLA said it bought the property with an eye toward expanding the hospital’s operations someday. The Eastsider

A USC cystic fibrosis clinic at Keck Hospital in Boyle Heights has been named after the late Star Trek star Anton Viktorovich Yelchin, who died two years ago at the age of 27. Yelchin’s foundation, which is run by his parents, donated $1 million to the clinic that treated him for a decade. The Russian-born “Star Trek” film star died in a freak car accident at his home in Studio City. HSC News

This photo of a bobcat was taken recently at the Audubon Center of Debs Park, near the northern stretch of a seasonal creek that runs down the center of the park. Miguel Ordeñana, an urban wildlife expert at the Natural History Museum, said, “People shouldn’t fear the bobcats since they’re mostly hunting for smaller prey and hide during the day away from people.” The Eastsider
