Montecito Heights  —  Firefighters quickly knockdown a grass fire that broke out this morning near Debs Park.

The fire consumed about 1-/12 acres of grass and vegetation before near the 5000 block of Griffin Avenue before it was knocked down by firefighters at about 11:30 am, according to the L.A. Fire Department. About 55 firefighters and water-dropping aircraft were deployed.

There were no reports of injuries or structure damage. No word on what caused the blaze.
