New Echo Park home development to open next month

Sales of 15 new homes at the far north end of Echo Park are scheduled to go on sale next month, with prices starting in the $600,000 range.   A grand opening for Artis,  a small-lot development off Allesandro Street near Rosebud Avenue, comes after years of challenges by neighbors concerned about extensive hillside grading and the cutting down of a small urban forest on the nearly three-acre site (the developer will plant more than 160 replacement trees).  The development,  a partnership between Van Daele Homes and developer Planet Home Living,  is one of the first large housing projects to rise in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park.

The homes, set at the base of a hill above Allesandro Street, will range in size from 1,700 to 2,100 square feet  and include attached two-car garages. according to a Van Daele press release, which touts the project as the “perfect combination of suburban appeal and the excitement of city living.”

The models and sales information center are scheduled to open Saturday, April 13.

Meanwhile, Planet Home Living  is in the process of seeking city approvals to build two more Echo Park projects on Echo Park Avenue and along Douglas Street,
