ECHO PARK –– Mayor Eric Garcetti and wife Amy Wakeland have sold their former residence in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park for $1.705 million, according to Redfin. That’s $55,000 over the asking price.
Garcetti purchased the Mid-Century house at the bottom of a large hillside lot on Avon Street 16 years ago for $345,000. He and Wakeland later expanded the home, which was featured in Dwell magazine, to about 1,900 square-feet. In addition, the couple landscaped and terraced the nearly half-acre property.
Garcetti and Wakeland moved out of Elysian Heights about five years ago after purchasing a newly constructed Silver Lake home for $1.425 million. They sold that house three years later for $1.9 million and moved to the mayor’s mansion, which is owned by the city, in Windsor Square.
