Barry Lank has worked for newspapers on the East and West Coasts, and earned an MS in journalism from Columbia University. He formerly produced "National Lampoon Presents: The Final Edition." A native of San Gabriel Valley, he now lives in East Hollywood.

A year ago, the fence around the reservoirs was adorned with some 200 or so names - spelled out in rags - of unarmed African-American who had been killed by police in the United States. Now most of the names are gone. Silver Lake residents and groups are now considering what to do with the names that remain and how to honor the legacy of the fragile memorial.
